In the year 1968, Kamlesh along with a group of singer and musician friends of Bhavnagar joined to organise organised a concert featuring the old hit Hindi films songs. This programme was named  “VISRAATA SUR”, which was the first of its kind and it created a history. This programme inspired Mr. Amrish Parikh to organise this show in other cities of Gujarat, and got a tremendous response everywhere.

Kamlesh has performed more than 5000 (five thousand) shows in INDIA and abroad till date.

It was in one of such shows in Mumbai, where Amitabh Bachchan, Manmohan Desai, Laxmikant-Pyarelal were present in the audience, and he was asked by Manmohan Desai to sing for his new film, named “NASEEB” featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Shatrughna Sinha. It was “ZINDAGI IMTAHAN LETI HAI…” a trio song along with Suman Kalyanpure and Anwar, where he sang for Shatrughna Sinha. This was his first song in any Hindi film. He also sang songs like “TERA SAATH HAI TO…” for Jeetendra in PYAASA SAWAN, “GAADI ATI HAI…” with Suresh Wadkhar in OONCH NICH BEECH for Shashi Kapoor, “KAISA RE YEH KHEL BHAG KA” for Amjad Khan in LADAAKU, and for RAJ KAPOOR in his film GOPICHAND JASOOS.

It was in a show in Ahmedabad, where Raj Kapoor was invited by the local promoters to listen to Kamlesh Avsatthi. Raj Kapoor, as everyone knows had always preffered Mukesh to sing for him as a playback singer, for most of his songs. It was in this show, that he was highly impressed by the splendid voice of Kamlesh and his resemblance to Mukesh, that he said “ MUKESH IS REBORN”. As a result he selected Kamlesh to sing for his upcoming film GOPICHAND JASOOS, and Kamlesh sang all the songs of the film for him. This film was the last film of Raj Kapoor and it’s a very rare coincidence that the first song of Raj Kapoor’s screen life was sung by Mukesh, and the last one by Kamlesh Avsatthi.

Kamlesh has received the BEST PLAYBACK SINGER AWARD for the Gujarati film JOG SANJOG by the Gujarat Government. He has also been honoured with the MUKESH MEMORIAL AWARD FOR THE MELLENIUM YEAR by the National Commeration Council,

It was the same year, when he had been awarded for the outstanding performance in U.S.A by the then mayor of New Jersey. M.V. Rana Trust, of Bhavnagar felicitated him for his contribution in the field of music in the year 2000. He has been awarded the “Bhavnagar Gaurav Award” in the year 2002, by Lions Club, Giants Club and The Citizen Council of Bhavnagar jointly.

Kamlesh has also sung for number of albums featuring songs of MUKESH

Kamlesh is at present based in BHAVNAGAR and is working with the BHAVNAGAR UNIVERSITY. His wife MINA is also originally from Bhavnagar. Kamlesh says that’s its due to her constant support and caring nature that he has been able to reach at this stage in his career. His sons Bhushan and Tejas are at present based in Ahmedabad. Bhushan who is a singer, is an Architect by profession and the younger son Tejas is a management graduate working with a Multinational Company.
